Accessibility Statement

Accessibility Statement

SATs-Unlocked is committed to making its website accessible to all users, regardless of their abilities or the technology they use. We want everyone who visits our website to feel welcome and able to access the information and resources we provide, particularly the educational tools and materials designed to support pupils preparing for their SATs.

What Is Web Accessibility

Web accessibility means that websites, tools, and technologies are designed and developed so that people with disabilities can use them effectively. This includes those with visual, auditory, motor, or cognitive impairments. An accessible website ensures users can:

  • Navigate the site using assistive technologies such as screen readers, screen magnifiers, voice recognition software, or keyboard-only navigation.

  • Perceive and understand the content, including text, images, videos, and interactive elements.

  • Engage with the site in a meaningful and independent way.

Accessibility benefits everyone — not just users with disabilities — by making the website more user-friendly and inclusive for all visitors, including those with temporary impairments or using mobile devices and older browsers.

Declaration of Partial Compliance

We are currently partially compliant with WCAG 2.1 Level AA, due to some third-party content that is beyond our control. This may include:

  • Embedded videos hosted on platforms such as YouTube that do not have full accessibility features enabled.

  • Third-party tools or plugins used for user interaction or analytics that may not yet meet all accessibility standards.

We are actively working with these providers and seeking alternatives where possible to improve the overall accessibility experience.

Known Limitations of This Website

We are aware of some accessibility limitations on the SATs-Unlocked website. These may affect certain users, and we are working to address them as part of our ongoing improvements. Known issues include:

  • Embedded third-party videos (e.g., from YouTube) may not always have accurate captions or full keyboard control.

  • External forms or plugins (e.g., payment processors, analytics tools) may not fully meet WCAG 2.1 AA standards.

  • Some older PDFs or downloadable resources may not be fully accessible to screen readers.

  • Interactive elements such as drag-and-drop activities may be more difficult to navigate using only a keyboard or assistive technologies.

We are actively reviewing these areas and seeking solutions or alternatives where possible. If you encounter any difficulty accessing content, please let us know — we are happy to provide the information you need in an accessible format.

Accessibility Adjustments on this site

We aim and plan to take the following steps to ensure the SATs-Unlocked website is as accessible and inclusive as possible:

  • Text Alternatives: All meaningful images include alt text, allowing screen reader users to understand visual content.

  • Keyboard Navigation: The website can be navigated using a keyboard alone, ensuring usability for those who cannot use a mouse.

  • Consistent Layout: Pages are designed with consistent structure and clear navigation to support cognitive understanding.

  • Colour Contrast: We use a high-contrast colour palette to ensure readability for users with visual impairments, including colour blindness.

  • Responsive Design: The site adjusts appropriately for different screen sizes and orientations, making it accessible on both desktop and mobile devices.

  • Captions and Transcripts: Where applicable, we provide captions or transcripts for video and audio content.

  • Plain Language: We strive to use clear, plain English across all pages to support users with learning differences.

We regularly review and update the site to improve accessibility, guided by the WCAG 2.1 Level AA standards, which we aim to meet or exceed.
